Ingraham v. Wright 1970-1971

In 1970, all over the state of Florida, corporal punishment in public schools florished like sunflowers. If you don't know what corpral punishment is, it's when a teacher is allowed to beat a child if they act up in class. This struck a chord with me because these kids had major injuries if beaten. These kinds of punishments are cruel and don't help showing discipline. What's worse is that kids will probably be scared to give there opinions which is very important. Finally, 2 kids took this matter to the supreme court. Sadly, the votes for the case was 5 corporal punishment to 4 for the kids. The court said they were protecting the 8th ammendment, which states that they should not use cruel or unusual punishment. Later, Byron White said that the 8th ammendment wasn't just for criminals, it protected everyone. And with that, corporal punishment was no more!

Being Truly...GIFTED

To be truly gifted really means something. Whether it's good or bad your different. Some good things that come from being gifted is you excel in class, you can show off (if you want...i preferably don't) and also you can get more chances to do more stuff that average people can't do.

Sometimes you have cons that come with being gifted, you have big expectations, you get judged or teased, and sometimes your over sensitive. I put gifted into and acronym or what ever you'd like to call it. None of these are fun to feel or hear. Often you have too much responible and get stressed out. Also gfted also has to do with asynchronous development. For example I'm more intellectually developed than I am emotionally and physically.

About Me, Myself, I, and Evan

Hi, my name's Evan and I'm in 8th grade. My favorite subjects in school are writing, gifted and talented, career launch, history/geography, lunch (what can I say I got to talk), and maybe algebra, I don't know yet I just started. Things I like to learn are physics, directing and producing movies and music, and anything I can take control of. In my free time I like to think of movie ideas or music video ideas, i also like to long board and play music. When I get older i want to be a music/movie producer or director. I will also like to try and be a musician. things that make me happy are the Philadelphia Eagles, long boarding, creating things, recording music in a recording studio, skiing, and skim boarding.
