Last Post

My favorite part of Rogate was making all of the videos. I really liked making everyone laugh and I thought my videos were pretty humorous. My favorite lesson was the Google 20% project because my project subject was up to me. Blogs can be more effectivley used in my future Gifted and talented class if we just use them more and have fun with it, I mean it is my blog. I will miss my friends from middle school because I'm going to a different highschool. Is there as much drama in high school as there is in middle school. My plans for my summer are to go have fun with my old friends and practice basketball. I want to make the school team next year! WISH ME LUCK!

Kickstarter

If I had 500 dollars to spare and I could only buy 3 items on kickstarter.com,  I would buy these three things. The first thing I would buy is the Remee - The REM enhancing Lucid Dreaming Mask  , for 140 dollars which lets me customize the look of it. The Remee is a night mask you where that gives you Lucid Dreams. It's awesome. That leaves me with 360 dollars. The next thing I would buy is Laser AppTag for iPhone, iPod, Android. Real Shooter Gaming! for 120 dollars, I get 4 of them! It's a real life RPG and you can play with your friends. That leaves me with 240 dollars left. the last thing I would buy is the Ramos alarm clock which cost 220 dollars. I get the product before anyone else and shipping is free. Now I have 20 bucks to spare!

Crowdsourcing

I went to Dictionary.com and searched up the definition of crowdsourcing. It said, to utilize (labor, information, etc.) contributed by the general public to (a project), often via the Internet and without compensation. I went to a website about the snacks on Wikipedia and read about Walker Crisps flavor competitions. This is crowdsourcing because the public gets to submit ideas in on what new flavor they should come out with. On http://www.marketingmagazine.co.uk/news/903478/Builders-Breakfast-crisps-wins-Walkers-flavour-competition/ I read that the winner of the contest was called Builders Breakfast. This flavor tastes of eggs and beans. I also some that had the flavors of German Brotwurst, American Cheesburger, and many more; all in one chip. Amazing!

The Google 20% Time

The Google 20% Time is a great idea. It's freedom, fun, and it is a AWESOME way of learning. What the Google 20% Time is, is a way of learning where you spend 20% of your school week, which is a day, and you work on what you want to pursue as your career. This will make you learn things that you need to know rather then what is required. For example, why learn calculus if you are going to be a Writer. You don't need to learn formulas if you don’t need to know them. Schools limit this because we don’t have the freedom to do what we want to do. As you can see, the Google 20% Time idea is a very efficient and creative way of schooling.

Waste Land

When I watched Waste Land I felt sad and happy at the same time. I was sad during the begining because the people who worked at the dump had terrible lives. They had little money to support themselves and their voices weren't heard. While watching the movie I began to feel happy because Vik Muñiz really changed these peoples' lives. They got to participate in art and they would make tons of money too.
Vik helped because he gave the people confidence which led to money, which helped the peoples' voices be heard.
I think it is better to have a honest job instead of a dishonest job because your life could get screwed up very easily if they went the dishonest route. I think if you work hard at your job it doesn't matter what people think, you're doing what you can.
When I watched the film I was amazed at how much garbage is produced daily and how weird people are. People throw away the weirdest things, and the sadest. In the movie the garbage pickers found a dead baby in the trash. I am going to try to recycle and save material for something better because I realized what these people went through.
I think some other areas Vik Muñiz can cover are fast food debris, broken glass, and pollution in the sea.

Color

Sorry Ms. Mystrena but I had to take a picture of your colorful bag.

Underneath

The Superbowl helmet is underneath the hat and you put your head underneath both.

Photo Essay

On Boston.com I found a photo essay called 2011 NFL season kicks off. In the article pictures are shown of game one through out all teams. When I was looking at these pictures they made me think how special of an athlete you have to be because this sport is just brutal. This article caught my eye because I love football. I love watching these amazing athletes putting their career on the line and giving me an outstanding show. They always seem to approve. In one picture this a Kansas City Chief player was getting tackled and Buffalo Bill linebacker was twisting his head on the way down. These players are freakish athletes! I learned that if you want to be at the top, you have to be good at what you want and you got to want it more then anything.

Go check it out yourself at http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2011/09/2011_nfl_season_kicks_off.html

A Life In A Day

In my class we watched a movie called, a Life in a Day. The way this movie was made was, a bunch of people around the world filmed what there day was like on July 24th and sent there videos into a professional editor. The editor mashed all the videos together and made a beautiful movie. The scenes that I remember most is, when the boy was making money by polishing shoes, the concert in Germany when a lot of people died, the scars on the back of the mom with cancer, the cyclist who is traveling around the world on bike, and the goat when it got its head chopped off.
The scenes that gave me a positive reaction was the cyclist, the man that got a piano, the old couple getting married again for there anniversery, and the baby being born. Some negative scenes were, the German Love concert, the mom with cancer, the family that prayed everyday for their lost mother, and the goat that got its head cut off.
In the movie the scenes kept switching from poor to rich, from happy to sad, the p.attern followed juxtaposition. Juxtaposition is when you go from one thing, to its complete opposite. Some petterns of juxtaposition I saw were a man with a big house, and then a home in the forest made of grass. THis movie made me feel various emotions. I felt curious, sad, happy, thankful, and caring. I felt this way because when I saw how happy or sad people were I had feelings for them. The movie made me think of how big our world really is and how messed up but yet beautiful it can be. I would recommend this movie to someone spoiled or anyone that's in a bad situation because it will show the spoiled how little other people have and all they want is more, and it shows the people in bad situations that you're not the only one.

BOTTOM LINE WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Top 100 of TIME Magazine

When I looked at TIME's top 100 people of 2011 three people stuck out to me.

  • Bruno Mars
  • Tom Ford
  • Justin Bieber
I think Bruno Mars got on the list, because of his inspirational music and his talent. B.o.B said that Bruno doesn't have sessions when he records, he says it's a live performance. Such talent should be notice and TIME has.

Tom Ford stuck out for me because he was a caring and polite adult, that's rare for both. He is also very kind and honest. Rita Wilson said that Tom Ford was a good friend as well. I think Tom Ford is in TIME's list for just being a good person.

Lastly, Justin Bieber. I'm not like most guys where they hate on him because there jealous. I know exactly why he got into the list; he is a talented kid. As a musician myself, I want to be like Justin Bieber.
